Don’t forget to play…

Don’t forget to play…

I’ve said it for the past 17 years and I’ll never stop.

Yes, I’m fortunate enough to have stumbled across an art form, that lassoed me so hard I had no chance out.

All these years later I am no less in love with photography, no less ambitious or passionate, and all the more curious to see where it takes me.

But like many creatives, I mostly feel a total sense of failure and inadequacy, and often feel frustrated and alone in the art world.

So what’s my fix?

Remembering what it’s all about. Play. Humble play.

This weekend I took a workshop with the wonderful sayako_sugawara . In the arctic British winter, we nestled into an artist studio and shared the joy of chemigrams and all chemilumens. It reminded me how grounding the process can be when you step away from the hustle and the hierarchy.

This was the perfect break I needed from the relentless failed grant applications and has inspired me to remember the power of experimentation.

Thank you sayako_sugawara I never tire of this process and coming back to it with you was such a joy.

What creative joys are you finding time for? xx
